Policy Council

Parent involvement and leadership are critical to the success of the programs at Promise Early Education Center.

Policy Council representatives are elected by their respective sites’ parent groups, working in tandem with program administrators and Promise’s Board of Directors, making decisions that directly affect our children and families. Policy Council members participate in all aspects of program planning and development and must approve submittal of grants, all personnel hires and terminations, service areas, and budget recommendations.

Policy Council Members Include:

  • Parents of currently enrolled children (51% of council membership must be current parents)
  • Parents who have had a child in the program in previous years
  • Community agency representatives drawn from organizations that provide services, support, and/or resources to families served.

Policy Council representatives are selected in their centers in September or October for the upcoming Policy Council year.

Policy Council meets monthly during the school year from September to May. Policy Council representatives receive a stipend for meetings attended. Dinner and childcare is provided as meetings are held in the early evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

All members of the community are welcome to attend and observe these meetings.
