How do I apply for enrollment for my child?
To apply for enrollment, please fill out the application form. Once submitted, the Enrollment Office will be in contact with you. You may also call the enrollment department directly at 207-795-4040 ext. 325.
How old does my child have to be to enroll?
We accept applications for children birth to age 5, as well as expectant mothers for in-home visits and support.
What information is needed when applying?
The following information is needed to complete an application:
- Income information – tax return, public assistance, or statement of no income
- Child’s immunization record
- Child’s birth certificate
- Insurance information (private, MaineCare)
I have already applied… what is next?
Once your application is complete your child will be placed on a waitlist for consideration into one of our programs. Enrollment personnel will contact you once a slot is available if your application has been approved.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
No, it is not required for participation in our program.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Yes, we welcome children with special needs.
Are meals provided?
Yes, children in part-day programs receive breakfast and lunch while children in full-day programs receive breakfast, lunch, and snack. Formula, diapers, wipes and pull-ups are also provided for children during the program day.
Can non-English speaking children participate in Head Start program?
Yes, children who do not speak English are welcome.
Do you accept child care subsidies?
Yes.
Is there any cost for Head Start?
No, there is no cost for Head Start as part of Promise Early Education Center. Working families in need of extended child care can access care through a state subsidy (child care voucher, transitional, or Aspire).

What are the program hours?
Part-day programs operate a minimum of 3.5 hours a day.
Full-day programs operate from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Is transportation provided?
Transportation is only provided to our pre-K partnership sites by our public school partners.
Can I stay in the classroom with my child?
Yes, parents are always welcome to volunteer in their child’s classroom.
Will I need to turn in another application if my child is on the waitlist?
No, your child will remain on the waitlist until a vacancy occurs. If you move or obtain a new phone number, please contact the Enrollment Office at 207-795-4040 ext. 325 with your new address/phone number.
